Aubrey watched as someone approached, her own eyes lingering perhaps a little more than briefly on her long legs before traveling up to her face. Aubrey had seen her around the school before, and from what she knew, the girl was a renowned Gryffindor sports enthusiast and a legend in some circles. They had never spoken before, but she was old enough that Aubrey felt obligated to look up to her and trust her to know what she was doing with new students.
"Yes, Ms. Toynbee," she said crisply, "One in Gryffindor and one in Ravenclaw." She gestured towards the younger one, Jaime. "That one is ours, and his older brother will be going to your house. Would you mind showing him the way to your Common Room?" She remained as polite as possible. The first impression was always the most important, after all.

What was with this school and Gingers? Jaime blinked his watery eyes, fighting back another yawn. Both chicks, too. Apparently, Gryffindor was for jocks and Ravenclaw was for the less stupid. Cool.
There was nothing to worry about if they did not run from his bro's bulldog-like face... Jaime ain't never told him his smile made him look like Satan's spawn.
She was a little surprised that this particular girly knew her name, but then again she was a seventh year. Made sense some of the younger folk might know who she was.
"Yo," she said, to the one ugly motherfucker who introduced himself as 'Tyrone'. She grinned in response to his complete mangling of their house name, not having enough pride or, well, just plain not caring enough to correct him.
"I'm Emery. Lucky for you, Gryffindor dorms ain't too hard to find. You ready to go now? I ain't in a hurry, so it's up to you."
Aubrey nodded briefly in approval as Emery pretty much immediately offered to help and take him to where he needed to go. This was good, and meant that she'd be able to take Jaime to where he needed to go even quicker. She was a little disappointed that she wouldn't find out where the Gryffindors hid out, but there would come a time for that. It wasn't even so much that she wanted to take advantage of her knowledge, of course, but more that she just wanted to know. Secrets were the worst. Perhaps Jaime would help her one day, once they got situated. He would have to visit his brother sometime, right?
"If you are going to go with her, Tyrone," Aubrey stated, "I will be happy to take Jaime home. I will make sure he is safe, I assure you of that." The way he had spoken earlier had implied a certain protectiveness, and even now, he was doing all the talking, even when it would have been more appropriate for Jaime to speak or introduce himself or even walk. She herself had grown up an only child, so she knew not the beauty of sibling companionship, nor was she too eager to become acquainted with the feeling. Her parents having a baby at their age would be troublesome, anyway, and she did not, in any way, want to imagine them doing the act that would result in the sad, sad result that was an infant.

Tyrone considered. "Alright."
He put his eyes on Jaime. "Jaime, behave yourself, o-kay? I gonna go wi' dis missy here. And dat one gonna take care o' you, o-kay?" He put a paw on Jaime's shoulder. "I gonna see you at dinnah.... o-kay? Don't cause any trouble. Don't lose yo' stuff. Don't sit on yo' wand. Listen to Obrey and ax any ques-tions you got. I gonna be seein' you later. Take care o' yourself."
Having grown up in the great state of Nevada, Emery honestly found the little Ravenclaw girl's way of talking a hell of a lot more foreign than Tyrone's ebonics. She gave Aubrey and Jaime one last final wave, expression slightly nonplussed. So she'd been roped into this whole 'show the newbie around' thing, huh? Not a big deal, not really, and besides... she'd sort of kind of forgotten what errand she'd been running in the first place. Nothing important, surely not.
"Don't worry," she assured the older brother, who seemed like he might need it. Talk about brotherly love, right? "Ravenclaw people are really weird, but they're nice. My best friend is in Ravenclaw." The tall, athletic girl gave a quick look around, as if to make sure no one could overhear them. By this point they'd drawn away from the others enough they should be okay. "It's supposed to be a secret, but I totes know where they live."
Grinning victoriously, Emery began to trot off, waving for him to follow her. Gryffindor dorms ho!
She nodded in approval as Toynbee led the older boy away, engaging him in conversation she couldn't quite hear but she trusted to be educational and proper, a nice introduction to the history-filled halls that they went to school in. She turned to the younger Ellis, smiling at him in another attempt to be welcoming.
"I will lead you to our Common Room, now." She said, and began leading him in the opposite direction. "You are going to love it here, especially now that you are in Ravenclaw House. Our house was named for Rowena Ravenclaw, a formerly good friend of the founder of our school, Salazar Slytherin..." She trailed off as they turned a corner, but as she led the way to their common room, she would continue to regale Jaime with as much information and history that she could remember, if he would let her.

This babe even knew where the Ravenclaws lived. Relief swept over Tyrone. He began to follow her before stopping for a moment. He knew he should trust Jaime to take care of this issue, but--
"Um, Obrey... Jaime has narcolepsy, so please keep dat in mind."
Knowing Jaime, he would just not care enough to tell anyone about it.
With that, Tyrone followed the second Ginger. Name was Emerald or something.

...And Tyroney threw the narcolepsy-cat out of the bag. Surprise, surprise. He felt labels get pasted on him as if slapped on with excess glue by an elementary school student.
He adjusted his grip on the little bag he was carrying along.
Jaime tried to listen to Obrey's spiel as he followed her.
"Say," he said, trying to interrupt politely. "What's yo' name again? Obrey? Awburry?"
Though she didn't say anything about Jaime's narcolepsy, she stored the information away for future use. She wasn't too concerned, and unless he was going to like, pass out right his second or something -- she eyed him wearily for a moment -- she doubted she would have to deal with it personally. Was it doubt, or was it hope? Either way, really. Most Ravenclaws seemed to have insomnia, so it would be interesting to seem something like the opposite attempt to mingle. Or did narcolepsy result in less proper sleep? If so, maybe he would turn out fine. She remembered one of her cousins talking about a pill, a muggle invention, made specifically for narcoleptics. She had wanted to try it because from what she had heard about it, it allowed you to stay awake for up to three days without any serious harmful side effects. Those muggles... Sometimes, they were ingenious. As far as she knew there wasn't a legal potion that could do that for you. Her mouth nearly watered as she thought of all of that extra time that would come from no longer sleeping. So many books could be read, all assignments could be done the very night they were assigned... It was a dream, of course, one she hadn't gotten to fulfill. Perhaps one day.
She stopped, halfway through a sentence about the founding of Firefox, when he asked her his question.
"My name is Aubrey Kendaline. Ah-bree. Kendaline." She paused for a moment, remembering something she had questioned herself. "What is your last name?"
"Ellis," she repeated after him, tasting it on her tongue. It was a nice last name, one that she honestly preferred to either of their first names. It wasn't anything against them specifically, of course, but Aubrey found it much more professional to address acquaintances by their last name. This was supposed to school, after all, a place less for frolic and friendship and more for communal learning. First names were for close friends and the bedroom. That was how she preferred it.
It was a little awkward, though, trying to call someone by their last name when they had already introduced themselves with their first name. Perhaps on their next meeting she would address him as such, but for today, (his first day, she reminded herself) she would humor him.
"Well, Jaime, this school is really a whole textbook on its own of history, both ancient and recent. It's really quite exciting! For example..." She was excited to be able to teach someone with a like mind about their school. She really was proud of it.
