Discouraged for now, he took the wand and shoved it into his robe pocket to help himself forget about it, then realized there was something else he had forgotten about.
"Oh," he looked at his other hand holding the coffee, then over at Adrian and held it out to her, "Here, I think I'm alright now," he wasn't sure if it was the coffee or his over-all frustration with the spell that helped nudge him awake; but he thought he'd have a better go at drawing the moon now.

Adrian took her coffee back and sat it next to her on the floor. She gave a slight nod to both of them, the one to Cyan saying you're welcome and the one to Peter saying thank you.
Her brown eyes flicked between their works. Yeah, definitely better than hers.
The brunette picked up her coffee and took a sip of it before setting it back down. Coffee was good.
Dude, did that chick just get a secondary kiss from that little boy? Please tell me I'm not the only one who noticed that.
Aaaaanyway, Cyan finished some things here and there and made sure his name and such were written in elegant cursive. His house, etc. were there, too... Well, whatever. This class wasn't too important.
Brushing a hand through his curly hair, he glanced at the other two students.

( I think the concept of 'secondary kisses' is going to completely go over Peter's head for the next three or four years. Oh, why that does indeed tickle my fancy!)
Finally, Peter fished out the standard number two pencil buried in his sea of robes and squinted in the dark at his paper. Chewing his lip, he hunched over and attempted to write his name and the date in the darkness, asking suddenly,
"What day is today?" as he wrote the month and year, leaving a space at the front for the day. He only knew school days by their names, because the keeping of time in any other way kind of eluded him unless there was a properly marked calendar present. As he waited for a reply, his eyes left his paper and he looked up at his subject. Blindly touching pencil to paper, he made his attempt at drawing the moon.

Cyan seemed to have finished up his drawing, but Peter hadn't really started.
"Today is the ninth," Adrian stated, leaning her glowing wand toward his work so it would be easier for him to see.
The Hufflepuff could feel her crumpled up drawings under her butt. They really were a sight for poor eyes, so she really didn't care about them. It would at least get her house a few points, which they really needed.
She grabbed another drink of her coffee. Delicious.
After glancing a bit at his drawing, he went in and erased some things to tidy it up. He supposed he may have had some extra stars and might be missing some stars, too. Well, whatever.
He checked that his name and stuff was written on the back, plus the fact that the moon was a gibbous waning. Yep.

Peter listened to Cyan yawn and fought back the need to do so himself, not because he was getting tired again, but because yawns had the notorious ability to be contagious. He drew what he saw of the moon and didn't bother with stars or anything else and looked over his picture for a minute. Well, it was good for an eleven year old. He looked over at Adrian with her wand held out for him to see and smiled a bit.
"Thanks," he said, looking back at his picture and then handing it over to her to look at," There's mine."

Cyan yawned, but that didn't seem to bother Adrian. She was immune to the yawning epidemic.
Peter leaned over and showed her his work. He was better off than she was.
The hufflepuff felt obligated to show them her work, no matter how much she really didn't want to. After taking a drink of coffee, she leaned over and revealed her artwork. It looked like a two year old's drawing with lots of wrinkles in it.
She felt her cheeks grow slightly pink, but with her tan skin, it wasn't too noticeable, especially in the dim lighting. Life would go on and people wouldn't remember it after this class was over.

When he got a look at hers, he felt relieved that he wasn't the only one who couldn't draw and smirked, then noticed her year and frowned a bit as a thought suddenly entered his mind.
"You're year seven? That means you'll have to go after this year is over," even his tone was disappointed. He'd just met a nice older kid and now she'd be leaving soon. He heard Cyan give his goodbyes and looked back to the stairs as he trodded down the steps, "Bye!" he called over before the boy disappeared.

"Night," Adrian said as Cyan's footsteps started retreating further into the castle.
Peter seemed relieved, at first, due to her bad drawing. Then started talking about her leaving Firefox.
"And then I'll be out of this place," she said, speaking before registering the disappointment in his voice. At that point, she didn't really know what to say. She really needed to think before she spoke.
What was she was supposed to say?
"Um, I'm not exactly the smartest hufflepuff in the house," she started, though it sounded stupid, "School's not my thing. I'm gonna see better days," a small smile crossed her lips as she looked at the boy.
The brunette girl folded her paper back up and stuck it in her pocket, before she stood up.
"It's getting late. Maybe we should head in, too." She reached down a hand to help him up.

He smiled faintly as she held a hand out to him and grabbed it, soon standing with her help and brushing out his wrinkled robes with a free hand. He knew he felt the same a lot of the time when he was stuck in Elementary school classes for muggles. It was tedious and bothersome as best most days. That didn't change the fact that he'd miss this new person, at least a little bit because she was nice to him.
"Yeah," he muttered with a fake smirk,"I guess I'll see you around?"

Peter watched her walk out of his sight and sighed quietly, turning and looking out at the large night sky behind him for a moment.
"Well," he mumbled to himself, looking down at the crude drawing in his hand and carefully folding it to stuff into his robe pocket, "I guess..." he trailed off as he started down the stairs as well, not even hearing Adrian as he walked down them. He must have been standing there for a bit longer than he had thought. He heard his own footsteps as he trotted down the spiraling staircase and no one else's for the longest time; that is, until he heard faint ones at the end of the corridor once he reached the bottom steps. He thought that maybe it was Adrian just clearing the end of the hall, but the footsteps seemed to be getting more clear, like somebody was coming in his direction. He knew that it couldn't have been a student, because anybody who was permitted to be out as late as him and Adriana and Cyan would have been upstairs with them that whole time. Even with permission from a teacher, being out as late as now would have meant detention if you were caught walking away from the house dorms. Then he thought of something that made him feel like his stomach was twisting into a knot; that caretaker of the castle was a rotten, nasty man who always hollered at children for standing in the corridors during passing periods and spoke of stringing them up by their toes and stabbing them with hot pokers if he ever got a hold of one of them. He backed away from the tower's doorway and held in a breath as he hid and waited for the caretaker to pass by. He knew that if kids got in trouble for talking to each other during passing periods, he'd be in for a world of hurt even if he was out at night with permission.

California Myers stifled a yawn behind one hand. He wasn't really the type of person that stayed up this late, not ever, and most definitely not for some stupid Astronomy assignment, but the fact was Derpy the cow-turned-into-mouse had gone missing. Sometimes the black-and-white spotted rodent forgot it was now, in fact, a rodent, and it would go off and try to graze on the grass that surrounded the school. CA did not think this was a very good idea, because wouldn't that stuff be magical? Derpy did not seem to care what he thought, though, being a very one-sided creature, and so it was yet again the first-year Slytherin found himself wandering.
His bed sounded lovely, all warm and soft, with several extra comforters always thrown on top despite the current season. California liked to be comfortable. Man. 'Kay, well, he just had to find the dumb mouse then he could go back to that wonderful dream of a mattress, right? Sleepily, the boy dragged himself along, one hand scratching through his lank blond mane. If he were a cow-mouse, where would he go? Shrugging, the little Slytherin passed through the way to the tower; he assumed the already-open door meant there might be people up there that he could rope into doing the actual looking for him. That would sure be nice, wouldn't it?
"Derpy, you shit," he mumbled, half-tripping as he mounted the first step. "Dumb mouse, where are you?"
