Legilimense... Muryllis had heard of the spell before, though he had never been taught it. Difficult spells of that sort were only taught out of necessity, like the Brainwash Charm. "Though I'd rather not do something that the Headmaster would not approve of, it is, after all, the dueling hall, and you have given me permission to look into your mind. Besides - it's not like you are one of those old Death Eaters or anything," he laughed. Was she?
About the Brainwashing Charm, we were taught that about three years ago; you see, the first things we were taught were spells and charms that would be used if Muggles ever found out about is. Since Nostri Magi is stuck right in the middle of a big city, we need to take precautions. As such, we were taught how to use the Brainwash Charm, but only to the extent that we must have total concentration; thus, the victim must be immobilized."
As for not having to say the spell.. haven't I just been teaching you silent casting? I've been silent casting since the first spell I was ever taught; I don't think that shall be a problem for me. Now, if you are ready, I shall begin my lesson. This was amazing; Muryllis would finally learn a spells more useful than most he had ever been taught; no more need for veritaserum or the permission and supervision of professors... he would finally be able to probe into the thoughts of others... I wonder what this spell is like when you try to Weave it, he thought. I guess that must consist of pulling Threads out of the person's mind...
Placing his wand tip at Faye's temple, he gave her a final wink and a smile before shutting his eyes. What to look for.. what had the Mentalism professor said about entering a person's mind? 'Imagine it like a corridor of open and closed doors; the open ones are those leading to rooms of unguarded thoughts, and the closed, locked ones lead to deeper, darker secrets. None but a skilled Mentalist is able to enter those doors without the help of other magic or potions.'
His wand still at her forehead, his mind suddenly drifted to his wand. The spell's word, Legilimens, flashed through his mind, and his inner eye focused on the wand; what did it look like, drawing in Thread from Faye's mind, showing him the corridor? He saw the corridor.. but it was fuzzy, very, very fuzzy, like it was flowing, broken, through something. Almost as soon as he had entered it, it left his mind, bringing him back to the dim lights of the dueling hall; he could swear he had noticed his wand send a faint spark.
The wand, the fuzziness, the corridor.. he had Woven? Had he Woven? He looked back at Faye, her eyes were still closed, and she looked calm; had she not yet felt a thing? The image was too fuzzy... she might not have felt it. He would try again, pushing aside any other thoughts...
It was quite a plain corridor; it seemed to be endless, the light fading in the distance. It was plain and white, sourceless, bright lights defeating any shadows that entered. The walls were dotted, at random intervals, by deep brown doorframes. Most of these were open, but there were some that were closed, bolted shut. This girl must have a lot to hide, he thought, walking through the hallway. His footsteps echoed along the walls as he walked across the tile floor, peering into the rooms with open doorways. Some had random childhood memories: her parents (interesting people), childhood friends. Then he passed by rooms with images of her witch mother waving her off to her new school.. Magical Horizons, images of that were next, her school friends, a boy named Forgoil...
What does that wand look like right about now? His change of thoughts brought him out of the corridor, snapping him into the middle of the dueling hall. "It was clearer than a Brainwash Charm," he began, glancing down at his wand, trying to picture the Thread zooming through it. "Uh.. I guess I am good enough with the Brainwash Charm to be able to work on this myself... thanks." He sad down, holding his wand out horizontally in front of him, gazing at it. What if...
