The girl's fiery snap reminded Muryllis of a beast's action when it's cornered, teeth bared and growling at its victorious enemy. Roan's move was incredibly similar, and the Ravenclaw was free to walk up to it and stick his head through a 'window' that emerged from the roaring flames - an opening of his own creation. "Are you ready to give up yet," he asked, prodding the air with his wand pointes in the direction of Roan's leg; he jabbed it with magic, poking it as a sadist would poke a half-dead creature.
He took no time out to think on his actions. Past experiences had thought the boy an important lesson: in war, you must have no compassion, for your opponent very well won't have any for you. There was no emotion in his face, only the cold, icy look that prevailed in his grey eyes. "Have I snuffed out your flame, Roan?"
OOC: Thank you so much Mury, now I have something to do while I wait to go and get my foot x-rayed! -.- And the funny thing is that Roan has a broken foot in here and I have an injured foot IRL…same foot too…
BIC:
Roan flinched when she saw Muryills’s head pop through a window in her fire wall, but then she just plastered an annoyed look on her face. He absolutely loved the theatrics, didn’t he? She considered for a moment closing that wall tight around his neck and holding it with all of her ‘grip’ so that he couldn’t get out. But then a shooting of pain through her foot made her reconsider. He was asking her if she was finished…and she actually had to think. There was very little she could do…
Her thinking was interrupted by the poking of her leg, and the jarring was making her foot ache even more. She gritted her teeth and kept an angry hazel glare on him, like a gun with pointed at a target. And then he said the thing that made her make up her mind. She was almost done, but she wasn’t stopping unless Muryllis was going to pay for this duel as well. Roan was weakening because of her injuries, but her flame was just fine. She figured that one more blast…and then she would be done. There was no possible way she could beat Muryllis, but maybe that wasn’t the goal.
“No Muryllis.” She said simply, feeling rather unguarded on the ground but she couldn’t do anything about it. Roan sat up straighter and thrust her palms towards her attacker and almost instantly the fiery wall rushed around and form fitted to Muryllis, a coat almost. But more of her flames rushed from her palms to surround him as close as they could in layers. She could feel her arms shaking with the effort, but she kept it up. Though she was concentrating a great deal of heat on Muryllis himself, there was also concentration on burning both of their wands to ashes. Wands were wood, they could burn much easier.
The Hufflepuff kept her concentration as long as she could, letting the heat of the flames erase the cold harshness of winter. Fire was her element. Angry. Hungry. Always needy, always wanting more. And Roan reveled in it’s strength for her last few moments of connection with her inner sun. And with one raspy exhale the fire stopped coming and she was left staring at another large ball of flames that surrounded Muryllis from head to toe. The first several layers were form fitted, then she just surrounded it with more fire. And hopefully now those wands were crisp as well.
“Now Muryllis, I am done.” Her quiet voice came as Roan’s shoulders slumped and her eyes went to the ground as she took deep breaths. Her blood stained the ground and was still trickling out of injuries, and her foot was just a stabbing pain that she wanted to ignore. They were done…she wasn’t getting anywhere with this. And Muryllis wasn’t going to see sense anyways.
If this is to end in fire Then we shall all burn together Watch the flames climb high into the night
Soon enough, Roan's fiery shell turned from a barrier into an offensive weapon, wrapping around the Muryllis with respectable strength. As the Hufflepuff poured her heart and soul into this final offensive, Muryllis was filled with a minute sense of love... at first, it was love for his opponent, one who had the strength and will to overcome anything thrown at her. Then, images of his encounter with her during the War crept into his mind, flashing before the his eyes. The kiss.
The Ravenclaw smiled, genuinely, for the first time in quite a while; he'd begun to slowly lose his sense of emotion a year ago, when he first joined the Society, and it completely drained from him once he'd realized the consequences of his actions during the War. Memories of the past year flickered through his mind as he felt the wands in his possession burn to unrecognizable bits of charcoal; they'd never be useable in any respectable form of magic, such was the power of the girl's fire.
Now, he felt complete, and that completeness brought with it a sense of fatigue. He let go, unable to bring himself to repel the inferno; he allowed the flames to lick away at him, though he did not feel at all defeated. "Good job, Roan," he stuttered once the fire had done its job. Muryllis slumped to the ground, unconcious and charred as a burnt piece of bacon.
The fiery blaze died down to about nothing, and it was not the sight that Roan had expected to see when it fell. She would remember it for a long time, and found herself clenching her jaw shut to keep it from falling. It had worked, her last offensive which was meant to do no more then be a last act of defiance had worked better then anything she had thrown at him later. Why? The only way she would know the exact reason was if the Ravenclaw decided to tell her. If not she would just have to remain astounded. After his words and his fall, she sat there dumbstruck. It had to be a ploy, it just had to be. Any moment now he would get back up, heal himself again and then either declare himself the winner or make some sarcastic comment that would just makes Roan want to slap him. The moments seemed like forever that she just sat there in awe, but he never got back up. This was no joke, she had really actually made something work against her opponent. And yet, she didn’t feel any pride, because it look like she really hurt him!
“Muryllis…?” Her wavering and questioning voice broke through the silence. But they boy was unconscious, so obviously no answer came. “Muryllis?” Her voice was a bit stronger, but more worried. They were in some serious trouble now. Roan worked her way to her knees and used them to ‘walk’ herself over by the knocked out and rather charred boy so that she could kneel down by his side. One hand went to the burnt skin at his neck and found a pulse…so she hadn’t killed him. “Crud.” She said aloud, still quite stunned.
What could she do? With her foot mangled and blood still trickling from her side she couldn’t stand and support her own weight much less her own and Muryllis’s. And she had charred both of their wands to a crisp so they were no use. And it wasn’t as if she could use her fire to carry him, so they were both sitting ducks until someone came to get them. “Four AM. Real bright choice there.” She said under her breath, her voice still shaky. What the heck was she going to do?!
Finally Roan made a choice and just hoped to hell that it would work. She put one palm towards the sky and reached down inside to grab at her flames again. “Inflamare” With that one word she set a beacon to the sky above them. Fast flames that lit up the world around them, and would surely bring someone running in order to help them. She watched them with careful hazel eyes for a moment before turning her gaze back on the charred boy next to her. Why had that happened? Why didn’t he block or destroy the flames? She didn’t mean for him to get so injured, and yet this had obviously gone wrong.
“You hang in there.” Roan said quietly, waiting there in the semi-dark, hoping that someone saw her signal. For both of their sakes.
