OOC: *shoots talon for making annoying music* DIE!!!
IC, in a relatively saner state:
Things had certainly gone strange since he came to FFU. A person whose only experience of leading groups was aiding them in times of combat, he was now the leader of a house and a quidditch team. Trying to put a better light on this, he looked for similarties between the experiences, but found very little. Well, at least I'll look like an idiot if I fail, just as I would then. He was probably in way over his head, but that was another thing he was used to. As long as he kept his cool, however, and thought things through before making any decisions, things shouldn't go completely to hell. At worst, an organized chaos. Protégé smiled at that thought, an oxymoron, contradicting itself. Ah well, confusion describing a clouded future.
He had come to practice dressed simply. Boots, jeans, belt, gray t-shirt. Dagger hidden on the calf muscle of right leg, wand hidden in a similar way on the left. Broomstick in his hand. No cloak, for he didn't want to bother with a cloak swirling around him at the moment. The low number of applications had forced him to take all comers, so he needed now to see what the skill level was of all those who had applied. He wasn't even wearing any marking of house or rank, because he figured that if he didn't try to separate himself from the team members by showing some irregularity or difference, they might be more willing to listen. Besides, he was planning on really letting them govern what they did. All he would do is oversee and determine skill.
Going over to where quidditch equipment was, he grabbed the box containing the balls and hefted it, carrying it to the center of the field. As he walked, he decided that he wouldn't take this time to refine his skills, but he would focus on watching others and giving advice. Besides, all he needed to be a seeker was a quick mind, good reflexes, and a sharp eye, and he had experience gaining those. Also, he could gain a sharper eye watching the other people, deciding what their mistakes were and how to solve them. Of course, the entire question was whether or not they would listen to his quidditch advice. Bah well, he could do nothing about that now, so he'd leave that deal till the future, where he had to deal with it and he could do something about that.
Reaching the center of the field, Protégé set the equipment down standing on its side. Sitting down on it, he reflected the number of people who had signed up. I'm going to have to train everyone to do as much as possible, so that if one person's missing, we can keep the numbers balanced in a good way. Not even enough people for reserves, that was how things were. Oh well. Maybe some people hadn't signed up, but would make a decision quickly when they see that practice is starting so early. So far, Protégé knew the other teams had run only try-outs. But with the lack of people showing up,k Protégé didn't have to worry about that. All he had to deal with was other people, a forte that he was hopefully going to be able to do good in.bg
