It wasn't just an increase in foot speed Andrew's spell had given him; everything he did was faster, to the point that it seemed like the world was in slow motion. Almost. It seemed like every moment had stretched out into three, possibly four. So when things started to go crazy..."I have had it with these mother-hugging things trying to kill me in this mother-hugging school!" He leapt away from the vines which seemed to be attacking just to give him something to dodge away from. Just to make his life harder. Just to try to kill him.
"MOVE!" he yelled at the teacher. She wasn't going. "MOVE!" He'd grabbed a trowel from the ground as he felt one of the vines lash around his ankle. Chop the thing off. Get it off now! He slashed at the thing. The first cut didn't do much, but the second bit deep. The third finally released him, and the teacher still hadn't moved. She deducts points for this and I'll never save her life again. Not even if she's Hot For Student afterward, nor if she plans on giving out Nonstandard Hero Reward. Not worth it.
He had played rugby as a kid, before he knew he was a wizard. Just a good solid tackle, banish the wall...and then repair it and hope Morgan's got something figured out. "No other school I went to had motherhugging WEREWOLVES for TEACHER, dammit. Nowhere else were there so many easy ways to die so close to STUDENTS! What the hell, BRILLIANT HEADMASTER, what the hell?" Andrew was really pissed now, ready to pull it off.
He charged forward, twisting away from one more vine trying to wrap him up. Then he squatted low, drove down under the nosy teacher's center of mass and lifted her as he dashed towards the greenhouse wall. "EXPULSO!" he cried, and a seven-foot section of glass and frame burst outward, covering them both in a shower of glass. Those plants can't be happy. Robbing them of such a tasty and delectable treat... Once he was fairly sure that they were clear, he dropped the teacher to the ground and looked for Morgan.
He found her, started running towards her...and realized the one major downside of his haste spell. Duration. He was back to normal speed now. Gonna pay that speed debt off in one of my classes. Preferably one that isn't trying to kill me. So...he took what felt like forever getting to her.
"You're all right? Don't think we're in trouble, but I have no idea what to do about the greenhouse...I've been to three other schools and NONE of them were pissy about use of magic. They must have gotten the really irritable plants here." Andrew was out of breath, exhausted...but he'd pulled it off. Again. Somehow. Well, the luck held out long enough for me to stay alive. Why can't it just be that little notch better to where I don't need to WORRY about ending up dead?
