"No-one ever listens to the one who had to suffer the demon for so long... Should have figured..."
Lucius regretted the weak grip he had on the dagger as it soared to Talon's hand, even though he had offered a better solution.
"You must seem to misunderstand my concern for the dagger... The thing is barely sentient, or at least sentient enough to possess an ironic sense of humour… It isn’t evil, it just ended up being used as a container… The powers it displayed were not from the demon, but power it had before that…”
As Talon touched the weapon, Lucius could see a faint ripple run down the surface of the dagger… Samael of Abaddon was looking for a way to slip its bonds and take a new host, but the headmaster wasn’t an easy prize. However, Lucius was feeling numb… Not because the demon gave him warmth, far from it… He utterly despised the monster, but for some reason when the dagger away from him, he started to feel numb like he did then… Without warning, his right leg gave out under him, dropping the six-foot teen to the floor in the blink of an eye.
“It would seem… That I lose feeling when his container goes away from me…”
Trying to push himself upright, the lion found that below his neck, the right side of his body wasn’t responding… He could see that his body was in one piece, but it felt like there wasn’t anything there… He tried to move again, no response… He tried again, a slight twitch from his right hand… Another try, a bigger twitch and some slight movement from his leg… Gripping the table in his left hand, Lucius forced himself to stand… In time to hear Talon say that he “will never again have to worry about this demon”… Uh-oh…
“You can’t… You can’t get rid of him… Not right now… This isn’t a lust for his power talking, more of something else. He still has half of my soul, so if you banish him, it’ll be pretty much guaranteed to kill me.”
Focusing on his right leg despite the “nothingness” that was there, he took a shaky step forwards…
“Samaelof Abaddon, we need to talk…”
As if on cue, the demon appeared. Rather than its usual form, the monster decided to mock his “master” by taking on a paler-skinned and clothed version of the lion.
”You called master”?
“Cut the crap, you have something of mine still, I want it back before I personally kick you back to whatever hell spawned you.”
”Bold words master, since you no longer hold the cards… I look forwards to the day I slip these bonds and cause havoc… Remember… Half of your soul is still mine, so you can’t hurt me without suffering yourself…”
With gritted teeth, the teen dissolved the monster’s apparition. He had lost that round of verbal sparring… Samael of Abaddon seemed to be getting slowly stronger and would soon be able to slip the teen’s dominion over it… And with half of Lucius’ soul hostage, there wasn’t a thing he could do to stop him…
“Of all the things to be an unwilling host of, why a demon? Why a greater demon of a mythological monster? An angel would have been nice, I wouldn’t have minded being the host of an angel… Time to revise plan “B” then…”
Limping towards the door with cold fury more than evident in his eyes and his expression, Lucius was having to revise his “Be free from the demon” plan… Plan “A” had met with success, since he was separated from the beast… Plan “B” however, now needed him able to get his soul back in his body in one piece rather than just find a way to banish the creature…
