“Oh no you don’t.” Sylph stood, shocked and pale, but upright and with her head high regardless. The blood seemed to have drained from her face, ebbing away at a rate of knots as the man she loved talked of his ordeal, of what had been promised to him regarding her, but her voice was steady. Her eyes, shockingly bright even in normal circumstances, seemed to emit their own light to rival the red glow Forgoil had suddenly been afflicted with. To look into those points of crimson light was a terrible thing, and it nearly broke her to see him in so much pain, but he was right about one thing. She was strong. Stronger than even she knew. Her hands balled into fists by her side, but there they stayed.
“You do NOT tell me where to go, Halifirien,” she growled. “And nor does the bastard that did this to you. And why do you care if Rezna didn’t love you? Why do you care that Charl’ turned out to be a complete bitch? You’ve got me.” These last words were spoken so forcefully that sparks flew from her wand, red and green. “And I am everything to you. You know how I know that?” she went on furiously, not waiting for a reply to this obviously rhetorical query. “Because you are everything to me!”
Flames seemed to erupt in her face, and in the next second she had surged forward, roughly grabbing the front of his robes with fuming fists. She yanked him violently forward and planted her lips on his, all her wrath and passion and strength pouring out into him in that one brutal kiss. After a moment of fire and ferocity she released him, her eyes still burning madly.
“I love you, you moron,” she glowered, speaking the words without a single trace of their customary soft tenderness. She glared at him, challenging him, daring him to send her away for a second time. Her fists were by her sides again. “If you think I’m going to leave you now you’ve got another thing coming – and so has the Unknown One.”
