ooc: This takes place some time after 'Out of Luck'.
----
True sunlight made Gabriel wince. A silly thing, but he hadn't chanced it in so long, even if it kept him safe. The Gabriel Adams who stepped outside wasn't quite the same as the one who'd first walked through the Arch back in October, or even the one who'd nearly lost everything in a crypt just a few days ago.
Days, weeks. He hadn't the slighest idea.
The only thing the Ravenclaw knew was that something was wrong. For one, he was still alive. The next night, there had been no call, no urging to step out in to the night. She had left him, without the slightest notice of why. Gabriel sat down on the low wall, reluctant to move any further across the grounds. He did not want to chance being caught out when night fell, even if that would be several hours from now.
The place at his neck was still a nasty looking, partially healed gash, mostly hidden where his cloak fastened around his throat. He didn't remember going back to the common room, but that was where he had been hiding for days, reluctant to even leave for food. Nearly dying made it difficult. God, he must look a messed. This morning, he had gone down to the showers and cleaned up, found himself something to eat.
How many days before her curse ran out of his system? Was it gone already?
Dressed in clean, if slightly wrinkled, robes, Gabriel looked relatively normal. His jeans had grass stains at the knees, but the shirt he wore was one he didn't remember owning. Some sort of band, when had he ever really cared for music? It might have been a present. Whatever the case, he felt grateful for it.
The healing gash itched, and for the fifth or sixth time, Gabriel rubbed it with his palm. Even the shadows under his eyes were vanishing, and some color flushed his cheeks. Maybe it had been more than a few days.
Not out of the woods yet, Gabriel. Even if Victoria's ... power? bled completely out of his system, even if their tie became severed, she would find him again. Something must have happened, to keep her away. For now, Gabriel wouldn't chance being outside after dusk. Even with the sun overhead, he still felt rattled, a nervous twitch with every sound he heard. Students walked past, chatting and for the most part, ignoring him.
Gradually, he settled down. Sooner or later, he would get himself back together, get back to work. Work. The Ravenclaw almost let out a snort of laughter. Yes, one could call it that. His fingers itched to reach for one of the blades he never went anywhere without, but for now, he needed no trouble. He needed to relax, enjoy. Appear less dangerous.
He already had too many people on his tail as it were, one of them his own fault. It had been foolish to show that girl his past. The other, the Head Boy, knew something was off about Gabriel. But he didn't know what.
To relax, and then back to his morbid games.
But first he needed a wand.
